Hey, so what's the deal with Single File? A rock band from So-Cal? A jazz combo from Colorado? Something about North Carolina? And who the hell is Laura, anyway? In the end, the story of Single File is far too ridiculous and royally confusing for the bounds of this tiny little bio page...
Suffice it to say, Joe and Sloan have been writing music together since their early years in high school, and have played more shows in more bands together than anyone who cares can keep track of. Strangely, up until the conception of Single File, they played jazz almost exclusively. Aye, a strange step backwards, indeed -- it's not every day that a jazz trio somehow devolves from rhythm-changes to three-chord rock. Nonetheless, Single File did just that, and they've been rocking-out ever since.
In the short breath they've been back on the scene, Single File has already managed to land shows at some of the largest Venues in Hollywood, and have played out with countless touring acts. The band was even awarded as "one of the top 50 bands of this year", in the latest issue of Asylum Magazine, listed alongside acts like Brand New, Story of The Year, Copeland, and The Pixies.
Some might call it punk, where others would probably label it emo, indie, garage, or even power-pop. Really, it's a wee-bit of all the aforementioned; a little something called ROCK. Unaffected by dreams of stardom and visions of grandeur, Single File brings to the table an honesty in the underground scene that hasn't been seen in years. It's simple: no hassle, just rock.
For these three, the future is definitely bright...
