Comments: Idora's music lacks any of the self-proclaimed artistry I've read about in multiple places. There's nothing "experimental" about them. They play the same bland rock trash I've heard thousands of times. The guitar is nothing but A power chords over a faux-Neil Peart beat, which, incidentally, unintentionally fluctuates throughout the entire song. The bass is standard trite. The vocals are boring, off key most of the time, and the lyrics are unpoetic crap about the amusement park that they took their name from. Their song "Burning Memories" is a 4:26 journey into creative emptiness, as there is a very distinctive hollow feel to the song, very similar to any corporate rock band that's on your local top 40 station right now. It sounds to me like these guys don't have many influences. The most obvious, and probably only, are Tool and Soundgarden, but there is a definite plea for marketability with the whole 3 Doors Down/Creed thing they threw into the mix. I give it a half of a star. They may be failing miserably, but at least they're trying, I think. I’m pretty sure they take themselves seriously. I wouldn’t if I was them, but hey, they've got the courage to suck as bad as they do, and not even realize it, so they get a half of a star. In conclusion, if you see that Idora's coming to your local bar or coffee shop, make sure you stay clear of any easy chair that they might want to conveniently stand around, hopeful that someone with a camera should come by. Look at them, gazing. So pretentious-I mean, profound...
Music types: Rock, Rock
Description:
IDORA is a cutting edge original rock band based in the thriving metropolis of Youngstown, Ohio. We set out to create a kicking hard-rock sound that exemplifies what Youngstown rock is all about. We have been together for almost a year and are in the process of recording our own demo, set to be out sometime in the beginning of 2004.

Band Members:
Vocals: Tony Villanueva Age: 21 Location: Youngstown, OH

Tony has been singing for over 6 years but started his love of music as a young boy listening to...Latin, Latin jazz, Funk, Blues, R&B, Rock, Regge and Hiphop...You can always find him working long hours in the studio practicing and improving vocals, guitar, bass, drums and Latin percussion...

Guitarist: Trevor Richards Age: 22 Location: Youngstown, OH

Trevor comes from a small suburban town about 5 minutes from warren ohio. In order to keep him from going completely insane from boardom, he took up playing guitar in the mid 90's. He enjoys a very broad range of musical genres from classic rock, alternative, progressive, world styles, jazz, blues, and metal. Trevor stresses the point of always trying to better himself as a person and a musician by keeping an open mind to new ideas and is always trying to look at music from it's artistic perspective.

Bassist: Ryan Bailey Age: 20 Location: Youngstown, OH

Ryan has been apart of northeast Ohio most of his life. He has been playing bass since he picked it up when he was 15. He seems to progress himself every day. His styles range from, classic, metal, and alternative. He likes to take his musical experience to another level by looking at his project as an artist and being technical at the same time. Ryan motivates himself by making his music better each time.

Drummer: Chris Massey Age:27 Location: Youngstown, OH

Chris is from Boardman, Ohio and has been playing professionally since given a chance to play in a jazz project at the age of ten. Chris spent most of the last ten years in Columbus playing with a variety of types of people including: MOLLIKENT, THE HOODOO SOUL BAND, and SEPTEMBER FLARE. While Rock and Grunge seem to be the styles that most influence him today, Jazz and Blues still flow freely in his veins. Chris classifies himself as a technical drummer that admires the teachings of Buddy Rich, Neil Peart(Rush), Lars Ulrich(Metallica), and Carter Beauford(Dave Matthews Band).
