Sometimes an artist manifests from the earth as if they had been smoldering in the core's formative magma for eons; unrelated and seemingly oblivious to any trend, yet rising with an immediate and darkly foreign impact. Boston-based singer-songwriter-keyboardist Dana Shellmire is such an artist and, along with her band featuring drummer Mick Collins and guitarist/vocalist Tyler Whitney, is igniting stages across New England, New York, the South, and Canada with her signature blend of powerhouse vocals, high-energy urban/alternative rock riffs, and sweeping, cerebral-edged piano melodies - weaving effortlessly such influences as punk, R&B, classical, hip-hop, and jazz into a style unto itself.

We are officially back from our righteously, raucous tour of the south and midwest with enough stories to fill a few volumes of rock lore. I would first and foremost like to give extra special "double secret probation" thank you's to my family (Mom, Grandma, and Devon) for driving close to 2,000 livin', lovin' miles from Los Angeles to New Orleans to see the band perform at the Mermaid Lounge, hookin' us up with a huge seafood feast that we couldn't begin to afford on our own, and my mom for chauffeuring the band around town amidst our degradation of Bourbon Street without batting an eye. 50,000 thanks go to Mick's parents (Jim and Carol) for providing our illustriously-phat touring vehicle equipped with disco mood lighting, plush sofa chairs and carpeting, and TV/VCR/DVD/STEREO surround sound combo. "Speak not to us of love...you guys are GODS!!" I'd also like to give MAD PROPERS to Jeannette and Silver Tongue Music for putting the whole shiny shindig together and making it possible for us to live the dream for a few weeks free of the pressures of our regular daily lives. BIG UPS to the bands who shared these amazing shows with us and showed us what "good times" are all about in their hometowns: Cinti Laird (New York City), Stephanie Seskin of Blue Number Nine (New Jersey), The Blue Umbrellas (Louisville, KY), STOUT (Memphis, TN), Lisa Ellingsen (New Orleans, LA), and Harlen Simple (Manassas, VA) + all the venues that hosted us.
