Description:
A Moments Loss formed in Reno in 1999 inspired by boredom, pop punk, and local metal/hardcore heroes Fall Silent and December. After a few years of honing their sound and a few line up changes they recorded a self titled full length at a local studio. But the departure of the lead vocalist and disapointment with the recording lead to a complete reworking of their sound and lineup. Over the next few years aml recorded the "American Death Poem" ep, went through some more line up changes, and went on several west coast tours and continued to refine their sound. After 5 years Aml has found their own sound combining the energy and sincerity of the hardcore scene they grew up in with with the melody and emotion of early emo/posthardcore bands such as Mineral, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Appleseed Cast and holding it all together with effects laden soundscapes reminiscent of Sigur Ros or Pink Floyd. Above all they hope to make technical, precise, and sincere music that affects the lister in some way. Music that is heavy without resorting to drop tuning or pummeling double bass drumming and emotional without falling into the post-Thursday cliches that are so prevalent today.

In the summer of 2003 aml packed up and went to Pus Caverns (Deftones, Cake, Zao) in Sacramento and recorded five brand new songs. Two disastrous tours, one new bassist, thousands of dollars, and thirteen months later "The Forgetting" was finally released featuring artwork by Adam Wentworth (On Broken Wings, Black Dahlia Murder, etc.). Aml's goals have always been to get their music out to as many people as possible and play as hard as they can whether its fors two people or two thousand. For the rest of 2004 A Moments Loss will keep busy writing new material, promoting "The Forgetting", and doing another west coast tour in August
