Description:
A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Jonathan Andrews was born into a culture rich in blues and gospel music. Soon after High School, with guitar in hand, Jonathan burst into the local music scene of his bluesy hometown and it’s neighboring cities with his first touring band Gladstone. In less than a year Gladstone had developed a substantial following and it became evident that they should record an album. In 1996 Gladstone, with the help of local producer Glen Graves, recorded their first album of original music six cents. After two years of touring and promotion Jonathan was drawn to Nashville, Tennessee to take his musical abilities to the next level. In 1998 he was accepted into Belmont University's prestigious school of music where he graduated with a commercial vocal music degree and has been living and learning in Nashville ever since. His songs come from the heart and sooth the soul. "I write what sounds good to me with the hope that someone else will think the same." Now three bands later and into his solo career Jonathan insists on what he calls artistic integrity. "Being true to who you are and who God created you to be is the most important thing you can do on this earth."
Jonathan Andrews recently achieved a career milestone with the release of his new solo album Overcoming Gravity which contains an abundance of well crafted melodies and thoughful lyrics that…..”probe issues of love, family and spirituality.”(The Nashville Scene). In these Beatles-esque songs...you can hear the pain, sorrow and joy in every little detail whether it be the soaring sweet vocals or the driving acoustic guitar. Overcoming Gravity takes you on a ride from start to finish with its refreshing and unique way of going from an in-your-face rock song like "Can't Put Me Down" to the simple ballad "What Love Is." This is an album filled with a variety pack of flavors sure to hit home with any listener. Jonathan is passionate about his music and this is evident, not only in his writing, but also in his ability to deliver a song straight from the heart.
Jonathan plays regularly in and around Nashville at venues such as the Flying Saucer, 12th & Porter, Douglas Corner and Third & Lindsley and has just recently received an outstanding achievement award in the 2005 Positive Pop Song contest. This and other highlights include : Local college radio airplay of his song “The Water’s Fine” and in November of 2005 Jonathan had the privilege of opening for one of muisic’s all time greats, Three Dog Night at a Red Cross Benefit in Shreveport, Louisiana.
