Description:
"Dreams of Autocrashes, the debut CD from India Records darling The Normans, prove indie rock doesn't have to be a one-dimensional diatribe of misery. Brent Baldwin crafts deeply layered songs of quiet intensity that incorporate gentle, Brian Wilson-like harmonies over intricately woven guitar melodies. His transparent, ethereal vocals conjure the spirit of Elliott Smith, leaving the listener craving more. This is the genius of Baldwin's songwriting; he is able to craft interesting musical ideas but doesn't have to beat you over the head with them." -University Star
"...intelligent witty lyrics... graceful folk-rock with spacey intentions... a pop masterpiece..." - Smother
"This is a great album which you will be listening to time and time again." - Guitar Noise
Band Members:
Pieced together from a number of Boston indie/punk bands, The Normans now reside in Austin TX, where they revel in a most unnatural fetish for rhyming state capitals. Brent writes the songs, plays the guitar, and sings. He likes cupcakes. A lot. Byrne plays the bass and sings. He is terrified of catapillars. Eric plays the drums and yells. Stuff like 'get off the stage' and 'you suck.' This most often occurs when his own band is on the stage.
