Description:
Hampton Roads eclectic rock band, Concrete Sky is making waves from New York to Los Angeles.
The band has entered an artist development agreement with long-time Director of A&R Capitol Records, Loren Israel (Beck, Coldplay, Jimmy Eats World). Israel is working with Concrete Sky on their third album. Their second CD, "Every Face I Spend" is near completion at Windmark Recording in Virginia Beach. Concrete Sky's current CD, "GLOW," is licensed for national release this summer by Statue Records in Los Angeles. Eight of the thirteen tracks form "GLOW" have charted #1 in multiple categories at Soundclick.com, the largest free MP3 download site on the Internet.
Concrete Sky is also undefeated in the New York bands competition, Touring 495, sponsored by Inside Connection Magazine. They're competing with some of New York's hottest bands for a $50,000 prize. Concrete Sky is featured in this month's issue of Inside Connection.
Concrete Sky, founded by songwriters Bob Hembree (California) and Dan Foster (Connecticut), grew from a recording project in 2000. In 2003, they completed the line-up with Bert Croswell (California), Chris Serrano (Virginia) and Mike Fellers (Virginia). Numerous magazines and radio stations have since featured the band, including, The Compass, The Beacon, Splash Magazine and the UK magazine Switchboard, who placed Concrete Sky on their International Roll of Honour.
Band Members:
Each member in the band comes from successful local bands and have years of performance and studio experience to draw from. The band orignated with guitarist, Bob Hembree and basist, Dam Foster. Bob had a collection of orignal songs to record in his home studio and met Dan through an ad he placed in a local music magazine, Nine Volt. They recorded all the songs with the help of studio musicans, then decided they were good enough to take them on the road. They auditioned potential band members for 2 years before they found the right line-up. After the band was formed, they re-recorded the songs to reflect the strengths of the new members, Bert Croswell on Vocals, Chris Serrano on drums and Mike Fellers on guitar. Chris also proved to be a valuable asset to Concrete Sky by handeling the bookings. He keeps us very busy.
Once the band was complete, new songs were written and arranged according to the strengths of each members. The newer songs are heavier, without losing the melodic hooks of the first CD and presented more aggresively on stage.
