Description:
From the craggy moors of Britain’s Blackstone Edge comes Philip Clayton-Thompson and his 6 piece Blackstone Edge Band.
PCT began singing as a young lad for sixpence in seedy pubs in the North of England. He graduated to workingmen’s clubs for a few “Quid.” Shared a dressing room with the Beatles at the Queen’s Theatre Blackpool. Spent a summer season dressed in a kilt, playing drums in a Scots Pipe Band. Became the regimental bugler for the Lancaster Brigade. Went down to London. Made coffee for Mike Wallace. Poured tea for Lady Mountbatten. Got a donut for Bob Dylan at midnight in Cardiff, Wales. Became a documentary filmmaker. Got a rubber bullet up his bum while filming stone throwers in Belfast. Won the Chicago Film Festival. Created the most publicized exhibition at the Tate Gallery in London. Photographed African sunsets. Got mugged in Cape Town; Got mugged in Manhattan. Got interrogated by the Statsi in East Berlin. Stopped a riot in Trafalgar Square. Emigrated to the U.S. Started a doco company beneath the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge. Moved to the Big Apple. Interviewed Donald Trump. Painted Meryl Streep’s apt. Discussed paint products with Henry Kissinger. Plastered over George Soros’ clock. Spent 10 years in Hollywood. Developed situation comedies, and feature films and other “Hot” projects. Moved to the Pacific Northwest. Traveled the U.S., Canada & Italy, photographing everything from mansions to mobile homes to Jeeps in Alaska. Studied Opera for 10 years. Performed the “Story of Mario Lanza” to a bevy of retirement home attendees, the youngest of which was 103! Produced an original opera. Photo’d 167 national magazine covers. Co-owns a boutique ad agency. Named it “Blackstone Edge.” Has 3 million + YouTube hits with BSE videos. Goes full circle. Forms Blackstone Edge Band . and starts gigging again. This time going upscale – performing popular songs to film clips projected on multiple screens at a French wine bar, PDX’s popular Andina Restaurant, and at the Coaster Theatre on April 27, 2013. Unlike the Beatles who sang Bésame Mucho in English for their audition with Decca Records. PCT, the lad from Lancashire, is singing it in Spanish, along with “La Mer” in French, Sting’s “Fields of Gold,” and an operatic version of “Roxanne” from Moulin Rouge! Now that you’ve got to hear!
