Music types: Electronic, Eclectic
Description:
Telekinetic Walrus and The Pride of Ions’ eclectic sound draws from electronic dance beats, hip-hop, funk, acid jazz, and raw melodic innovation in an experimental fusion of grooves that can surely bewilder the unexpected listeners and will have them dancing, or at least moving their body before they even realize.

“Coming out of the University of Miami, Telekinetic Walrus combines electronic, jazz, and funk to make spectacular house party music. Like an updated Parliament Funkadelic with a [bassoon] and some electronics, Telekinetic Walrus knows how to start a party. -Festival Review: CoS at Ultra Music Fest 2011. Consequenceofsound.net”

When walking into a Telekinetic Walrus show black light permeates the dimly lit venue. The first thing you will notice besides a thick wall of bass are brightly neon-painted fans grooving intensely back and forth and side to side as the front man commands the crowd with his glowing wizard staff and vibrant stage energy.

“To the band: I don’t have the words to describe your Ultra set. You guys turned my soul loose and ripped it apart and put it back together. I’m a full-fledged believer in you guys. You’re on the path enjoy the journey.” -Brady Jacob

Next, you will be as mesmerized as you are astonished when your ears feel the medieval resonance of the bassoon. All of this is compounded exponentially when you realize that the sound is being manipulated and traveling through some of the world’s most cutting edge technology. If you manage to return to reality from the magical land of projected visuals, you will realize that the sensually moving colorful blurs on the sides of the stage are actually an assembly of gorgeous vixens, wearing little more than fluorescent paint.

For the future, Telekinetic Walrus is planning to move their music on the road across North America and to many music festivals, as well. From local music and art festivals such as BREATHE to international super festivals such as Ultra Music Festival, Telekinetic Walrus thrives through diversity and dynamic stage shows, which are enjoyed by many listeners of many different genres, ages.

“New Telekinetic Walrus and The Pride of Ions has officially changed my perspective on life.“ – Dustin Lee Doing

With a rapidly expanding fan base (called “ions”) and powerful (some would say “spiritual”) live shows, Telekinetic Walrus is certainly an influential underground act ready to pounce into mainstream territories. After the immensely successful release of their self-titled first album followed by even greater success from their latest EP release, BREATHE: The Dusty Elk Lung EP Part One, Telekinetic Walrus remains in the studio and plays live shows around South Florida with plans to release even more musical content in the next few months.

“They got that alien funk for your ass.” – BlackBeansAndWhiteRice.com
