Description:
Since 2008, the five members of the Indianapolis based rock band Goliathon have packed up their gear and set off for the evening’s gig. It might be a snowy winter night at Indianapolis’ Historic Melody Inn, the mellow cry of a saxophone echoing warmly through the bitter downtown streets. It could be a stormy autumn evening on the rural outskirts of the city, the warble of an organ lifted skyward in invitation to coming tempest as fingers of lightening silhouette the band against a green-black sky. Their audience has ranged from the frenzied chaos of 500 tightly packed spectators to the smoky intimacy of a pub where a few have shuffled in for a drink and stayed for the bands final note.
Since the 2010 release of Goliathon’s debut album Without Further Ado, the group has been aired on local and national radio, had its album reviewed online, and circulated the Indianapolis scene via word of mouth. Goliathon’s strong live act has attracted a wide-variety of fans and supporters who cite the group’s musical versatility and originality as refreshing and engaging.
2011 finds Goliathon in the studio writing new material and planning its summer tour of the East Coast. The band plans to expand the breadth of its exposure as well as network with regional and national acts in its efforts to play for more people in more cities. As Goliathon continues to move its act to the next level, the group keeps its focus where it has been since the first note was struck. No matter the venue, they will play like the world is watching.
