Description:
This band strives to break music free of its cumbersome shackles. This band is something new. Something better. Something with not only soul, but brains. Duct Tape from the 70s has been packing the house in such venues as Fenton's Mo Doggies, Pontiac's Clutch Cargo's, and the Dirtfest rock festival in Birch Run since 2007 with an original and addictive blend of hard rock, blues and progressive and experimental sensibilities that sounds like nothing you've ever heard before and yet compliments all genres of live rock beautifully. Their success has found them in the home studio of Gordon Strozier, guitarist for the platinum selling Flint band Ready for the World, and plan to have a demo sent to EMI possibly by the time you read this. Artistic integrity and professionalism define our creed.
Band Members:
Jentry Speck - An 18 year old blues prodigy who has been playing, and even building on occasion, guitar since before he was 7 and has been honing his unique style consisting of classic blues techniques which have been turned on their head thanks to influences by Johnny Marr, Johnny Greenwood and Mike Einziger among others.
Joseph Marlin - A combination bassist/rhythm guitarist in the tradition of Jack White. His search for the perfect sound has taken him beyond the realm of standard instrumentation and has led to a combination of instrument and electronics which gives his thumping one-man rhythm section a searing signature tone which perfectly fills up the back end of their sound. Marlin, a classically trained chamber singer, also belts out the primary vocals with a combination of sweeping range and unabashedly guttural emotion straight from his soul to the mic.
Landon Baldwin - The son of two virtuosso percussionists both of which are former Michigan State Drum Corps snare players and one of which still plays in the Flint Symphony Orchestra. Having easily maintained a first chair position throughout his career in high school wind ensemble Baldwin decided to change the focus of his prodigious talent to the drum set and quickly developed pin-point accuracy and speed unmatched by most while maintaining a solid sense of groove which gives the drum backing to this group ear candy for the average music fan and the technically aware music critic alike.
