Artist Summary: Genres: Rock / ElectroAcoustic / Garage / Alternative / Original &Cover Rock! Bio: If you’ve ever been to one of their live shows, it’s easy to see why The Hold Outs were voted as “the Best Up-and-Coming Local Rock Band” by Space Cowboy of the Pacific Sun. With influences like The Beatles, The Cars, and classic rock, The Hold Outs play their hearts out, rocking soulful harmonies of boy-meets-girl, girl-disses-boy, boy-still-loves-girl-and-is-all-torn-up-about-it. Shredding guitar riffs, tight vocal harmonies, and an amazing energy that spills into the crowd, The Hold Outs always pack the dance floor; playing their own original tunes, as well as some of your old favorites with a new twist. “And so it all began….I locked my bedroom door. I wasn’t lifting weights; I was growing out my ‘stache and learning some chords.” You can’t help but love the Hold Outs, because they tend to bring back some of your fondest memories from high school. With songs like Confident Mustache, and Big Screen TV, they remind you of those awkward years, when you couldn’t get the girl and you didn’t have a car, but man did you have a great time. Growing up with influences like Alice in Chains, the Cars, Metallica, and classic rock, The Hold Outs play their hearts out, rocking soulful harmonies of boy-meets-girl, girl-disses-boy, boy-still-loves-girl-and-is-all-torn-up-about-it. Walk by the Fourth Street Tavern in San Rafael on a Saturday night, and you might see a row of hot chicks shaking it in sexy heels and stick-on mustaches, waving their drinks in the air as they sing along to ‘My Best Friends Girl.’ If it’s getting on towards last call, you might see the windows pound in time with an Iron Maiden or Slayer tune, and a bunch of dudes all riled up and screaming along. Maybe it’s the shredding guitar solos, maybe it’s the contagious energy of the band, or maybe it’s all that whisky and beer; but crowds at the Hold Outs shows always seem to be having a great time.

The Hold Outs got their official start in late 2006, when guitarists/vocalists Mark Antonio and Bart Hacker started an acoustic duo and wrote a few new songs together. Before you knew it, they had lured in Kalyan and his bass guitar, and Benjamin Trumbo on drums. They plugged in together for the first time in February 2008, and have been taking over the local music scene in Marin County ever since now booking shows in SF and abroad!

The Hold outs released their first album in October 2009, with an unforgettable night of live rock at 19 Broadway in Fairfax, California. Recorded and mixed by the soon-to-be-legendary David Simon-Baker at Mission Bells in San Francisco, the self-titled 5-song EP manages to cover a broad ranges, from light-hearted and slightly risqué to dark and emotional.

So come to a show, have a drink and dance all night. And check out their new EP. Play it in the car, with the windows rolled down, and your best friends in the passenger’s seats.
