We have have and are still requested to play some of the popular and well attended clubs in the twin city area. Our website is designed to broadcast our upcoming dates. We are specifically requested to play the Fine Line Music Cafe by there booking agent. Our ability to engage our audience and make them a part of our show. We are often described as groovy with a funk & jazz feel. We love what we do and it shows. We have been often compared to jazziness of Steely Dan and the retro funk of Maxell. This show pulls the dancers out to all the top music clubs. If you desire tasty original music with the occasional obscure cover, The Undergroove will surely delight you. We are readily adding new songs, original and covers to our sets. If you want a show that is energetic yet cool, WE ARE YOUR BAND!

Band Members:
Andrew Fadness - Lead Guitar Andrew started playing guitar 20 years ago. Over time, his style of writing and playing has become heavily influenced by funk and jam bands. He's played all over the states but has kept his home base in the Minneapolis music scene. He recorded and produced his first solo cd in 2005. Now, Andrew brings those refreshingly original grooves to the table along with the powerful talent of the rest of this ensemble.

Chris Hutton - Bass Guitar Chris has played bass in various bands in California, around the USA and finally settling in Minnesota. Chris spent 10 years gigging in national touring bands and playing in the local club circuit here in the Twin Cities. He likes to groove and digs R&B, funk music the most. . He enjoys holding it all down, keeping it solid and above all, having fun. He also co-writes songs in the group.

Jason Flinn - Drums To put it simply, Jason found out at an early age that he "Just likes to hit things". While he could've been a poster child for A.D.D in the '80s, it had yet to be 'invented'. So, he was just considered 'hyperactive'. It turns out that channeling his energy into rhythm was a far more positive influence than he could've realized and has been 'Kickin' the Flayva" ever since. He has enjoyed playing on a local, regional, and national level for the past 16 years. Jason's goal is to play the raunchiest of gut-bucket greasy funk to as many people who will listen.

LaMont Sandifer - Percussion LaMont Sandifer, A St. Paul native, has been playing drums since 1987, when he started marching with a local drum and bugle corps. In 1991, he helped establish a drill team at the Inner City Youth league, which went on to win numerous drill team competitions. He made the transition to congas in 1993, and has since had the honor of playing with such artists as Billy Holloman, Johnny Hodges, JB and the Routine, and the New Congress. Also local/national spoken word artists Pavielle, Ahanti Young, Queen Drea and Frank Sentwali. He also had the pleasure of teaching African drumming in local elementary schools and hopes to have the opportunity to teach again in the near future.

Mike Mothershed - Lead Vocals Born in Kansas City, he started out as a child prodigy gospel singer He quickly advanced within this genre of music to become a regional choir director. He then spent 13 years in the U.S military while working part time as a studio background singer. His talents allowed him to be pursued to perform voiceovers for the r&b division at Capitol Records, Inc in L.A. He successfully performed background vocal tracks and live performances for national r&b acts, Epic Recording legends, Luther Vandross and Jeffery Osborne. He has competed and won countless vocal contests nationally and is renowned for being able to recreate the Motown, Stax and Philly Sound of balladeers, past and present. His tenor and baritone command of vocals along with his confidence is entertaining and allows him to engage any audience who loves r&b/funk or just good dance music. Besides his obvious love of music, he loves boxing, exotic luxury cars and cowboy hats.

Gerald Matus - Sax and Keys Grew up in Cleveland Ohio, coined (a diamond in the rough by the local jazz greats). At 16 he moved to N.Y.C. and later to Los Angeles where his playing matured. After 30 years of life and music on both coasts He has relocated to Minneapolis. Miles Davis my music interests.
