Description:
The Brakedown started in May of 2006 when Jeremy got together with Mark (the drummer) and started jamming out and within a few minutes of jamming came up a breakdown as they like to call them. Over the next few weeks Jeremy and Mark wrote 4 complete songs.
They quickly thought about enlisting a bass player and David friend and bass player was first on their list. David was on a missions trip to China so this would have to wait until his return. David returned from his missions trip to China and joined on the bass.
At this point they had been booked for a concert opening up for Radial Angel and they had not even practiced together as a full band. With 3 weeks until the concert they began what they are known for hard work and dedication to practice. In the words of Jeremy "practice, practice, practice."
Their first concert was July 22, 2006 opening up for Radial Angel at Faith Family Life Center in Topeka. Since then they have been able to play in Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma at many different Churches, Coffeehouse, and Music Venues. Furthermore their song repetoire has grown to be able to handle being an opening band or also being a headlining band.
They got the chance to record with a fellow musician Beau Bruns (Kennedy Luck Club) and produce 3 songs. This gave them many new opportunities and allowed them to gear up for another venture into the recording process. They have plans to record a Full Length CD in the Fall of 2008.
Their influences help them to be diverse as a band. With influences from Breaking Benjamin to Coldplay and everything in between. As well as their musical backgrounds; David a classically trained piano play turned bass player, Mark a trained and seasoned drummer and Jeremy learned guitar from his Dad a Blues/Jazz guitarist.
Their message is what sets them apart from other bands not only is their music not the norm but their lyrical content is one of Hope to the listener. In the words of Jeremy "We encourage our listener to stop and think about life and the decisions we make, make us who we are"
With a heart set on rock and a mind set on Hope, The Brakedown is ready to breakdown the walls of seperation between Christian and Mainstream rock music and show everyone they mean business.
