Description:
117 West is a quartet that plays many forms of string music including bluegrass, jazz, country, gospel and popular music. This band has combined experience in records, movie sound tracks, television, radio and live performances. They bring new interpretations and skillful execution to familiar themes in bluegrass and string music. Their debut CD "Neon Streets" just came out in May 2006. Band Members:
Kenny Wertz plays banjo and sings lead and harmony formerly playing in Scottsville Squirrel Barkers, Country Gazette and Flying Burrito Brothers. Dan Broder plays guitar and sings lead vocals formerly playing with Bluegrassholes and Noam Pikelny. Dan wrote the song "Put My Guitar Away" on "Neon Street", 117 West's debut CD. Becky Green plays bass and singslead vocal on one song and harmony previously with Dixie Road Bluegrass Band and Down The Road. Darren Weiss plays mandolin providing strong rhythm chops and melodious leads.
