Description:
“669 can be compared to Tindersticks, Nick Drake, Love, the Go-Betweens, the Smiths, Pulp and Orange Juice, among others, but a quick spin of their album, Touch the Sky, and you'll quickly realize how inadequate such comparisons often are. 669 are an unusual combination of 4 (sic) musicians who don't like to do things the traditional way. Their music is so dizzily intriguing...” — panartist.com

669’s melodies capture the ear like a musical bear trap carefully laid open over pop and rock inspired instrumentals. The electric violin is an unexpected twist whether playing solo riffs or filling rhythm and counterpoint. Lead and harmony vocals come together in well-blended ensemble and close harmonies that bring to mind the neo-folk sound of bands like The Thorns. The band’s sound expands from there, adding equal parts Belle and Sebastian, Barenaked Ladies, and They Might Be Giants.

Band Members:
669 first appeared on the Seattle music scene in 2003 as Tony Bonjorno began his alchemical experiments in artist combinations to form a new pop-rock oriented band showcasing his own songwriting talents. Throughout the 90’s and early into the new millennium Tony played electric violin with a number of projects, including Circus Contraption, Phineas Gage, and No Soap Rodeo. It was through No Soap that Tony met 669 drummer, Dean Moore. Bass player, songwriter, and escapee from the University of Washington graduate program in Music, Shane Rooks was recruited into the band through the traditional ad in Seattle’s famous alternative weekly, the Stranger. Bob Silverstein (electric guitar) and Cheri Johnson (backing vocals) joined the band as they completed their debut album, Touch the Sky, in June of 2004.
