Description:
Born out of boredom and a longing for something more to do, All Ways Out began when Josh Brodlieb (Bass), Eric Waisman (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), and Jarid Cook (Percussion) saw talent in their midst and began to scribble down lyrics to some rather radio familiar, yet “original” guitar riffs that they had. The then inexperienced band rented out a storage garage nearby and began to practice religiously to hone their skills. After only a month, AWO felt that they were ready to perform live in front of an audience. Hastings Music and Bookstore was the place, right by the CD racks. The show was a great success, or as great as a first show could be. Friends and family showed up, even some people the band did not know commented on the skills of AWO. Who knew that those three guys and that show would be the beginning of something so great that is, All Ways Out. Shortly after the Hastings show, AWO found Karl Wyant (Lead Guitar), a small town drinker and Biochemistry major from Gallup, New Mexico, who brought a whole new layer to AWO that made the band’s sound so full they all knew it was meant to be. Practices continued, shows got bigger and bigger, as did the venues. AWO was playing shows almost every week, sometimes two or three a week. Their fan base grew rapidly and show promoters were calling right and left to have All Ways Out come to their venue to play. But as all great things do, the rock came to a screeching halt after Eric Waisman left for California to pursue a job that he couldn’t refuse. AWO was thought to be finished by some, others had faith that the rock would continue, but after three months and no word from the band, fans were getting worried. AWO was in pursuit of the perfect person or persons to replace Eric, one who had a great voice and was proficient at the guitar. It was a matter of days until Chris Telfer (Vocals) and Joel Mazza (Rhythm Guitar) were found and began learning the AWO way. Chris Telfer made his mark on All Ways Out but after only a year, had to resign from AWO due to personal issues. Two singers down, it seemed that AWO was doomed to fail. AWO decided to take a break and not immediately start searching for a replacement for Chris. Karl graduated from UNC, Josh expanded his music experience by joining a local rock band, and Joel and Jarid spent some time enjoying life. After regrouping mentally, physically, and sexually, AWO began the search for a new singer. Karl received an e-mail and press pack from Tom Duffin and was extremely impressed. AWO signed Tom up right away and began breaking him into the band. Tom adds a great rock sound to AWO allowing them to branch out and write new types of music with many new and unique sounds. All Ways Out is back to playing huge shows yet again, pleasing ears, and the occasional girl every now and then, all over.
