What do Nirvana, Oasis and Lynyrd Skynyrd all have in common? On their way to fame they won a battle of the bands competition and your band can too! The 2010 Finger Lakes Riesling Festival is calling all local bands to participate in the first-ever Battle of The Bands Competition on August 14 along Lakeshore Drive and Kershaw Park in Canandaigua.
The Battle of the Bands Competition presented Mobile Music in Canandaigua and the Entercom Marketing Results Group, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. and the winning band will be chosen by a panel of local celebrity judges. A $1,000 prize package including gift certificates and instruments from Mobile Music will be awarded to the winners.
Festival organizers are currently seeking local bands to participate in this summer’s competition.
“This festival is all about celebrating what our region has to offer – great wine, great food and great entertainment,” said festival co-founder Howie Jacobson. “We aren’t focusing on any one musical genre. We want bands from all musical influences - folk, rock, jazz, country, hip-hop - you name it, we want to hear it.”
