Description:
Drew Allen and the Untamed is a weekend band in Cheyenne, Wyoming, that has already raised the bar on music and performance for regional acts. They fuse a mixture of country, rock, Texas "red dirt", swamp, and original songs in a fun, boot-stompin' show that never fails to get a crowd going. Regardless of what they're labelled, all agree that their music is honest, real and engaging. Influenced by legends such as Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard, and with doors opened by Pat Green and Cross Canadian Ragweed, Drew Allen and the Untamed concoct a sound of their own. Currently, this five-piece band is performing and developing a fan base along the Front Range Rocky Mountain region for the new breed of country music - it's wild, it's irreverent, and its... well... untamed!

Band Members:
Drew Allen, front man (lead singer and rhythm guitar), has been working in music in one capacity or another for several years. He'd played with Ken Guille, the drummer, in another band, so when Drew started putting his ideas for the Untamed together, this extremely talented skins man was the natural candidate. Good bassists are hard to find, but Shoeless Joe Lopez was up for the job. After a bit of people-shuffling, Jim Kirk showed up to tickle the ivories, and then Bob Thorssen mysteriously appeared out of thin air to bring a deeper level of classic rock to the lead guitar role.

Let me be the first to come out and it:

"We survived!"

What it was we survived was the apparent Wyoming Tribune-Eagle curse. While we were admittedly excited about being interviewed by the local daily, we had forgotten that most of the bands interviewed by said paper very suddenly faded into obscurity following their interview. We soon learned why that was.

The week immediately following, Drew came down with the most serious throat crud any of us had seen in a long time. It was so bad we had to cancel a show at the White Buffalo. The week after that was the big show at CFD for the George Strait line. Drew was healthier but the weather decided not to cooperate, pouring down the traditional Opening Day rain with temperatures in the low 50s; not exactly conducive to playing outdoors on an uncovered stage. So, we were rained out.

The remainder of the summer passed fairly uneventfully. The Boulder County Fair was quite an experience and we hope to be out there again next year. And we're still at the White Buffalo when they can squeeze us in. Currently, we're thinking of taking a little time off in October to recharge and then coming back with a vengeance after that. :)

Stay tuned.
