Vibralux Interview
Band: The Mic: What got this band together and started in this business? Mercury Mad: Mercury is from an ice world just outside of the star cluster M-14. M-14 was named after his place of birth. Lexxxis and Asmo come from this solar system. They are locals. In actuality all of us come from the Lawrence/Kansas City area. We all know eachother from partying , seeing each other perform and or College.
The Mic:Who writes and produces all the material for the band? Mercury Mad: Mercury wrote Trans-Mission, and it was produced by Brad Koehler with a little of Mercury's magic touch. The others embellish and get crazy. Often, parts of the live show are improvised.
The Mic:The band played in front of or with any acts our readers would know from the Mainstream? Mercury Mad: From the goth mainstream we have played with Genitorturers, and Seraphim Shock. But we're looking forward to playing with Ashley Simpson, should her agent give us a call.
The Mic:Where can people access your music on the web? http://mercurymad.com
The Mic:Any embarrassing moments on stage? Mercury Mad: Too many to count, but we look to them for inspiration for other shows. It's like "Hey, you remember when you were teasing your hair instead of starting that song? Can we do that again?" "Remember when you woke up in the alley way after with all those bruises on your legs? that probably wasn't as cool so let me carry your ass to the van next time".
The Mic:Any good stories you want to tell us? Mercury Mad: I heard that one of us kicked a door down at a party after the show, because there was an orgy on the other side. It ended up in a paper somewhere. Everyone in the band is trying to take credit for it, but can't actually prove they did it.
The Mic: Who is the band's musical influence? Mercury Mad: Mary Kate and Ashley and your mom. Pretty much any group that sounds good and kicks ass. You might hear a bit of Queen, AC/DC, New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, Motley Crue, T-Rex. The rest of it is all us.
The Mic: How did the band get together? Mercury Mad: Here, if you sneeze in public, you'll probably hit a musician. Really, the question is: How do we STAY together? We stay together because we like to play and get drunk with each other. Hey wait, I think that's the answer for the first question.
The Mic: What is your musical background like? Mercury Mad: Our background is from all sources, we have all played in either metal groups, goth, college training, jazz. It comes from everywhere.
The Mic: Any other members in your family that are musicians? Mercury Mad: All of them. Some of them are members of other peoples' families, too.
The Mic: What is the TOP reason why you want to play music? Mercury Mad: To kick people in the nuts and have a good time doing it.
