It's not retro, and forget about the garage. It's breaking the sound barrier punk with female/male harmonies propelling the lyrics at adrenaline speed. The politics are shoot 'em up now and ask questions later.
It is what it is...but what it's kinda like... A cross between X and the Sex Pistols at their whip-cracking best, The Aversions ungracefully descend from The Avengers, The Ramones, Social D, The Clash, The Adolescents, Stiff Little Fingers.
Band Members:
Jess...vocals... ...prefers to spend most of her time with her horse and wasting her life in the comic book store. She lives in Oakland with her bestfriend/platonic life partner/fashion consultant Jocelyn and can drink Wild Turkey 101 like a mad woman. She already thinks she's a rockstar...Silly girl...
Sebastian...guitar and vocals... ...first sang in a shitty high school punk band around 1990, but couldn't figure out the timing so he decided to pickup guitar to keep the tempo while singing. Over ten years later, he still can't play or sing very well but he doesn't give a fuck. Sebastian prefers to drink Pabst and Guinness.
Lorin...drums... Learned how to play guitar when he was five. Started playing punk rock at 13. That band was The Selectives from Myrtle Point, OR. Rocked out for about 4 or 5 years, then started concentrating on his own shit, just writing songs about relationships, and crap. Then came the band Human Over Alls (2000), which soon changed its name to The Mill, and we've been rocking out since then. But now comes to The Aversions, he's the drummer and this is his first band playing drums. He started practicing together with Sam. Then they met up with Sebastian on craigslist.com about 4 or 5 months later. The rest (Jess) is self explanatory. Bye.
Sam...bass... Sam is considered by some to be the Godfather of high fashion. Seldom is there a time where he forgets to don a pair of shiny blue and white Reeboks with a red "Who Farted" shirt. This is a huge load to carry. Being the style guru he is, Sam has developed an attitude that has become both informative and sanctimonious; he gives out free fashion tips but makes you kiss his pinky ring. Being a big fan of music in general, Sam finds his influences yawn through petty genres and labels whose only purpose is to categorize and segregate. Fight the power. Aesop rock, Screeching Weasel, The Clash, Blackalicious, Latryx, Social Distortion, Stiff Little Fingers, and The Cure — YES THE FUCKING CURE make him happy. Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Gangstar, WuTang, The Criminals, Subhumans, and early AFI make him want to cut himself. Linkin Park, Korn, Slipknot, and all the other fuckers make him say he's Canadian, not American. Sam also loves cheese...
Mike...guitar and vocals... He's only been playing for a year but don't let that fool you! He stays up all night and plays until his fingers bleed, he thinks it makes him cool... Known for some true wanking but better known for his trashy guitar riffs... He survives by his wits. He hates food, but lives off of eight pound bags of chicken nuggets; and beer to kill the heart burn. He also has an obsession with buying guitars... Gifts are welcome... Buy him a Les Paul and you will have a best friend for life!
