Description:
NOCASHVALUE are a punk rock trio from Bend, Oregon whose sound has been influenced and compared to everyone from Bad Religion, NOFX, and the Suicide Machines. The list and impact of their influences is too long and drawn out to mention here. Their sound conjures up images of the southern California punk scene but at the same time, retains it's small town roots mostly by way of their lyrics ranging in topics from relationships to the confinement of growing up in the microcosm that is small town U.S.A. It's fast, it's loud, and most importantly it's real.

Band Members:
Formed in July of 2000, drummer Alan Burmeister, and singer/guitarist Andrew McCumber had recently moved to Bend from a small eastern Oregon town and were looking to continue where their previous band "DICKNIXON" had left off. They had a very small practice space and no P.A. To make matters worse, they had no gigs and no bass player. Enter Owen Evens. Owen had heard about the "band" through a mutual friend and decided to check them out. He had recently purchased a bass and was looking to start playing again after a long absence from music. It wasn't long until the three were pounding away in a spare bedroom at Owen's house teaching him all the songs and re-teaching many of the things he'd learned but forgotten years ago. This went on for sometime and the band was starting to get a little stir crazy. After months of rehearsing and writing, they were ready to show the world (or at least the local scene) what they were all about. On Dec.31 2000 N.C.V. played their first gig. It was at a warehouse in the industrial NorthEast side of Bend and to be honest, I don't know if anyone remembers who else was on the bill. Simply put, after months of isolation, these boys blew the roof off the place. Soon after they were traveling out of town to places like Eugene, Portland, Salem, and even Boise, ID, not to mention the slew of bar shows and all ages shows they played locally. This time tested, anyplace, anytime approach has yeilded them a local following that, however lacking in size, makes up in intense loyalty. It's hard to go to an N.C.V. show and not sing along with the catchy hooks and choruses. Crowd pleasers like "White Dope Fuckin' Sux" and their now notorious cover of Sam The Sham's "Little Red Ridin' Hood" have hammered their way into the psyche of teenagers and grown-up live music fans alike. NOCASHVALUE are a fan's band. They have and un-yielding love of their fans. Whom they like to refer to as friends- Even if they've never met them. With a new album to be finished soon, (they lack the funds), and the proper marketing, there's no reason this band couldn't attract a loyal following from all kinds of demographics. From young punk rocker kids, to the ski/snowboard crowd, all the way to the twenty-something college student. This band has a good sound, accessible lyrics, and a (no-nonsense) approach to a good time vibe. The live shows are high energy but also funny. And never, ever too serious. N.C.V. does not harbor any delusions about who, or what they are: Three down to earth, small town, average working class joes who have to feed this addiction to play music and have a good time. Frankly they don't want to be a leader of the pack they just wanna be in the pack. Thanks for listening, but I've rambled long enough. I think it's time to let the music do the talking........ CHEERS! N.C.V.
