Description:
Husband and wife team that records drums and bass and plays guitar, keyboards and sings to mix of covers and original songs. Covers are from bands such as J.J. Cale, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Jeff Beck , Led Zeppelin, Santana, Blues Standards. Each song has been carefully crafted to fit the artistic, jazzy and blues oriented brand of rock that Blue Heron is known for. Jazz and latin rhythms with excellent keyboard backing virtuosic guitar playing.
Band Members:
Tommy "Slick" Tyler was a child prodigy in Norfolk, Va in the sixties and played with the Chessmen, Sunset, and Tuff, as well as doing work through the musician's union for high school and Jr High school pageants. His father was the band leader of the Saints, a jazz band that hosted gigs by the Adderley brothers and John Coltraine at Trader Nick's and various places in Tidewater.He was also bass player for Joe Jones Trio at Strawberry Banks for years. Tommy has an honorary bachelors degree in Guitar composition. Kathy has been a pianist and keyboardist since she was in her teens in N.C. and recorded several gospel albums in the seventies with The Huntley Singers. She taught piano for years also and is great at getting in the groove.
