Description:
Lost Disciples have been, "Slamming", So. Cal and the Southwest with an, "Intense Barrage of driving rythms and Explosive Power", for over 8 years. Their LIVE performance will, "Crawl up your spine and make you tingle"... The New CD, "The Journey Home", has already been called, "the most ambitious EP to come out of San Diego in at least 10 years". Many people say San Diego bands will never make an impact on the National Scene. We respectfully disagree!

Band Members:
Jason - lead vocals, acoustic guitar: Lead singer Jason Baltzley is the soul of Lost Disciples.

Jason left home and cruised to California in his 1974 Camarro when he was seventeen years old. With $800.00 in Travellers Checks and an old acoustic guitar he sought out the guys who would fulfill his vision to form the band.

Homeless, jobless and living in his car, Jason grew up quickly and learned the lessons of life so many spend a lifetime discovering at a very young age.

Discussing their new album, Jason gets right to the point. "The Journey Home takes you on a spiritual journey … a journey that is unique to every listener, wherever you are from or whatever you think you believe in. We are all disciples of something. Real Truth is out there and it will set you Free."

As his fans and numerous music directors are well-aware, Jason’s musical gifts include the ability to mold spiritually grounded lyrics into tight and memorable musical hooks. Jason’s incredible vocals invoke the dominant snarl of Chris Cornell, but with the sensitivity and depth of Eddie Vedder and Peter Garrett.

Music critic Dylan Roberts of Digital City Reviews said, "[Jason’s] depth is also reflected in the songs, not just in the outer layer of lyrics but throughout every molecule of music; a rare quality that shows a spiritual link between creator and created. Music for men, not boys."

Steve "Rock" Stone - drums : What would this band be without drummer Steve "Rock" Stone, a self taught drummer since the age of 8. Steve adds the powerful chops which brings flavor and strength to the sound of the band. His biggest musical influences include Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Disturbed, and System of a Down. His wide range adds depth to the music making ability of Lost Disciples, which is so lacking in todays modern bands. Steve was rated 2nd best drummer in the San Diego area by Reader Magazine. "I do the best I can," Steven explains, "And all I love doing in life is playing music. If I could do it 24 hours a day, believe me, I would."

Bobby - bass, backing vocals: On the other side of the emotional, political, personal, musical and pretty-much-everything-else-you-can-think-of spectrum, bassist Bobby Cherry brings a wild style to Lost Disciples.

Bobby is a solid bass player who is heavily influenced by eclectic avante garde bands such as Sparta, System of a Down, and the Talking Heads, and his on-the-edge on-stage persona can only be described as a "berserker."

Despite Bobby’s counterculture leanings and seemingly out-of-control stage presence, his background is not what you would expect, as it includes work in military intelligence and the founding of a number of hugely successful corporate endeavors, including BPM Culture, the most comprehensive magazine on the electronic music scene, and the company Envy Skateboards.

"I am all about success," Bobby explains. "Whether it is playing bass, starting a magazine or washing my car. Whatever it is, I don't care. I just want to be good at it, and I don't hold back. Lost Disciples is the best band I have ever been in, and this journey is just getting started!"

His wild style fits his wild life and has always injected the Disciples with new life and direction.

Donovan - Lead guitar, backing vocals: Jason may be the soul of Lost Disciples, but the heart of this band belongs to lead guitarist Donovan McGlynn.

A native San Diegan; Donovan is a soft-spoken and easy-going guy. Who happens to be a gifted and classically trained guitar player.

Influenced by everyone from KISS to Steve Vai, Donovan started playing guitar at a young age, and his stylistic musical choices complement Jason's vocals perfectly. Donovan's guitar playing brings the music of Lost Disciples to life through his magical hands, and a charismatic glam-rock stage persona.

Reflecting on the band's experiences in New Mexico, Donovan adds that, "sometimes, a personal search for truth can take one down the wrong path, which ends in destruction, as we all unfortunately learned on 9-11."
