Description:
Artemia is band that will make you laugh, cry, ponder, fall in love, and be afraid of things of which we dare not speak.
Formed in 2010 and hailing from Augusta, Georgia (home of the godfather of soul James Brown), Artemia is a conglomeration of experienced musicians with diverse backgrounds that produce memorable, edgy music with a timeless feel. While the band falls under the umbrella of rock, Artemia incorporate elements of metal, progressive rock, hardcore/punk, jazz, soul, hip-hop, and pop into their music... and have covered artists as varied as Faith No More, Bonnie Raitt, CkY, and Linda Ronstadt. Artemia pay little attention to tired commercial formulas, bucking the trends followed by many of their contemporaries, and focus on making music that contrasts yet blends well with a variety of artists. Lyrically, Artemia is as clever and sundry as the music. Song themes include a musing on the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, the lack of originality in pop-culture, and how humans deal with their own mortal existence in a modern world. Never too serious, the lyrical content often contains subtle and occasionally pointed humor to give the songs an added flair. Ultimately, Artemia want to provide music fans with something different, something unique... something special.
