Description:
We call our music Free Range Rock, meaning original, homegrown, rootsy, not corporate flavor of the month. Music to move the mind and body. We’ve just released our first CD, 'Live at Satellite Ballroom'. Catfish Jones music is upbeat, guitar-centered, rhythmically adventurous funky blues-rock.
We’re influenced by: Allman Brothers, Talking Heads, John Hiatt, Taj Mahal, Johnny Cash, Warren Zevon, Little Feat, Frank Zappa, Albert King, King Crimson, The Who, CCR, Primus, Hendrix, Chris Whitley, Cream, XTC, Pink Floyd, SRV, Robert Johnson, Government Mule, James Brown and a thousand others.
Band Members:
Catfish Jones is a group of veteran Charlottesville, VA-area musicians: singer/songwriter/guitarist Johnny Jones, Lee Felton on lead guitar and vocals, Turtle on bass and vocals and Aaron Lipscombe on drums. John and Lee formed the nucleus of the band in January of 2005; the present lineup came together in the fall of 2007.
