Description:
Thee Helms is a Christian punk band based out of Blue Springs, MO. Thee Helms was more or less conceived in the late fall of 2005 in the bedroom of Corey Keller(19 at the time, now 20), who had just recently moved from Ruidosso, NM and was living with Zack Bartow(17) as part of a transitional living program to get his life back on track with God. The original lineup consisted of Corey on bass and vocals, Zack on drums, and Matt Corcoran(18) on guitar. The lineup would change many times and so would the name. (It used to be Helms.) We wanted to go for a unique sound so we changed things and Corey played acoustic guitar and Matt played bass. We recorded a two song demo this way but soon decided that we were lacking in engery and rockability. A friend who Matt and Zack worked with, Jon Tyc(17), was added to the band to play bass so Corey and Matt could both play guitar. Sadly, Jon wasn't what we were looking for and had to be let go before our first show. This was about the time that we added "Thee" to the beginning of our name. We found a replacement bassist for the concert named Jon Goza. While he is an amazing bassist, he didn't show interest in permanently joining the band. A new opportunity presented itself, however. Guitarist and vocalist of Three Over Nothing (R.I.P.) and The Firing Squad, Paul Gibson(18), was just recently let go from his band and is now the new guitarist and a new vocalist for Thee Helms. Meanwhile, Corey continues to be our lead vocalist but has switched over to bass.
Now here's a little more about who we actually are and what this band stands for and means to us.
As a band, we have given ourselves an indefinite set of goals to accomplish; meaning that our goals are always changing and we don't have a single mindset of how to accomplish them. Our first responsibilty is to the fans. All of us are huge music fans ourselves, so in the end all we're trying to do is give a little bit of our love back to the music community that has been such a big part of our lives. We might be up there playing the music, but we're still just fans of the music. We know what it's like to like a band and try to talk to them or get to know them and they turn out to be jerks, so we want to give as much time to the fans as we can, and of course, all of our music is for the fans as well. That's right, we wrote that one song just for you.
Another of our top priorities that is just as, if not more important than the fans, is the Lord God. Without His love and blessings over our lives we wouldn't be able to do what we love so much. So, in return to His blessings, we glorify Him through the music He has given us and try to show the world that there is a greater love out there than anything that can be experienced on this earth. We just want to do the best we can to spread the love of the Lord.
One other goal of ours is to just get out there and have as much fun as we can. That's really why we're doing this, it's for fun. We're not really trying to become a super serious band, we're just trying to write songs that other people can listen to and relate to. Also, the more fun you guys are having listening to us, the more fun we're having performing for you, which in turn, would hopefully let you have even more fun. So see, it's a win-win situation.
So come on out to our shows and have fun with us. Also, feel free to talk to us all you want. If a song speaks to you, come tell us. If you need prayer for anything, come tell us and we'll pray for you. If you just wanna chat or something like that then we're good for that too. Just mainly enjoy yourselves and may God bless every one of you.
