At an early age Elmer spent hours studying the musicians that frequented his father’s guitar shop. His father specialized in custom handcrafted guitars. Many seemed to be just like his family while others arrived in fancy chauffeured limousines. Elmer watched and listened to these talented artists and dreamed one day of playing his own guitar. At the age of 12 Elmer’s father handcrafted a guitar especially for him, it was a just like the one his father built for the Sons of the Pioneers. Delighted, Elmer committed himself to playing everyday, a habit he holds to this day. As his talents playing acoustic guitar and singing grew so did the demand for him to play at State Fairs and special events throughout Colorado and Kansas. Elmer latter joined the Army, during his service he was selected by the USO to perform for the Bicentennial, at the recommendation of the USO the Army granted Elmer a sabbatical for a year to entertain US troops and local people. While in Germany Elmer played with Hank Thompson and traveled with Bob Hope. During his stay in Germany he formed a band, “American Odyssey 1976”, they traveled Germany, France and England. Elmer married in 1973 his wife Regina who also shares a life long passion for music. Elmer and Regina have been singing together for over 30 years. On occasion Regina plays the piano. Bass player Stanley Reynolds is a Veteran he proudly served our country in Japan. He has been playing for 40 years. Pamela Dawson has been singing all of her life, a natural Alto; she sang her first solo in church at 18 months old. Pamela has won several music awards. The band members have been together playing for over 20 years. Today this band is called “Prairie Gold” based out of the Flint Hills of Kansas they produce the finest in country music, country and Southern Gospel. We also landed a spot on the Kansas State fair this year, so come and see us.
Dedicated and in love with the music we play.
