Thin Will

Thin Will’s versatile alternative rock sound is conquering San Diego right now.

Knowing a “typical” job wasn’t the answer to his dreams, lead guitarist Jay Buchwald decided to put 20 years of playing and songwriting skills to the test. July 2002 the first two people he called were his brother, percussionist/producer Karl Buchwald “Bucky” and friend, rhythm guitarist Darren Clevers, they both turned him down.

When Jay told co-worker, bassist Chris Long he was starting a band, Chris knew his old days of playing in a punk band were about to pay off. The two of them then turned an old barn into a studio and the music began.

Once crossing paths with vocalist/lyricist Chris Compton and putting his introspective words to the melodic and driving sound, they knew only great accomplishments would come out of this union.

After a few different guitarist and drummers, Jay played a CD for Bucky who then knew he could bring 20 years of experience and creativity to Thin Will’s sound.

When coincidentally overhearing Thin Will playing at a house party, Darren knew he couldn’t be left out. Remembering playing guitar with Jay in the past, Darren decided it was time to come on board.

Thin Will is based in San Marcos, Ca. and are ready to unleash their talent on the world. They have been rocking San Diego including venues such as: The Blvd, Blind Melons, Niemans, and Squid Joe’s since the summer of 2003. Their goal is to share their original music, stirring lyrics and remarkable performances. Influences: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Rush, Metallica, Pantera, Faith No More, STP Korn, Bad Religion, and Candlebox.

Sounds Like: Alice in Chains, Ozzy, Godsmack, and Disturbed.
