Description:
OK, first hailing from Flagstaff, AZ, this band has gone through some line-up and location changes. They are now based in Austin, TX. Their first EP, recorded in Flagstaff, featured Dave Swain on drums and Jordan Bilger, who is also on their first LP, Slow Horse, on guitars and vocals. Now that that is over with, let's get to the story.

Band Members:
The Whiskey Decision decided one day during a drinking binge that Flagstaff was not the town for them. Two months later, still binging, the band was in Austin, TX. Leaving a small college town for the "Live Music Capitol" initially turned out to be a disaster. Within two weeks the Swain (a.k.a. the drummer) realized that he was a drunk and moved back to Arizona to reform, leaving the rest of the band to deal with life in Austin. What followed was poetic. Three days later Wilson got arrested. Jordan lost his job. Patrick Tighe held his job and stayed out of jail. However, he slowly threw all of his possessions off of his apartment balcony (i.e. three televisions, a computer, his bass, his dog, toaster, various cases of bear, one of those small refrigerators all those college kids have, and finally his dignity).

So there they were locked up, unemployed and possession-less. However, somewhere deep inside their broken egos was a bright star which shined once again when the band stumbled upon percussion visionary Patrick Schowe, who with his revolutionary beats single-handedly lifted the battered spirits of The Whiskey Decision. They got back together, sobered up (at least for a couple days), and returned to making the sweet ass music that had brought them all together. They began playing shows shortly thereafter at venues such as Headhunters, Flamingo Cantina, 710, Redrum, Trophy's, the backroom, Black Lion (san antonio), 21st Street Co-op, and the Newguild. Finally in December 2004 The Whiskey Decision entered the studio to record their first full length album, 'Slow Horse'. However tragedy struck again in early January when Jordan Bilger had a nervous breakdown and moved home to Richmond, VA. They say that some nights you can hear him crying "no Mr. Bunny Rabbit, don't touch me there". Of course these reports have never been confirmed. Anyway the band kept on truckin. As a three piece they continued to play out at several of the venues mentioned above. They finalized 'Slow Horse,' which is expected to be formally released in early May 2005.

One chilly day in February the band met a tall, mysterious beast of a man by the name of Patrick Grady. He wasn't much to look at, but could shred like a madman. The band called a meeting. After hours of debate, drunk wrestling, and a brief period of awkwardness when Tighe asked if anyone would be interested in a circle jerk, The Whiskey Decision decided to offer Patrick Grady a spot with the band. Now that the tri-force of Pat was complete the four young men embarked on a great journey... SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST.
