Description:
Side Seat Driver was formed in January 2002 to re-invent the American Rock and Roll Band. There is an arena atmosphere to any show they play, even smaller clubs seem to be transformed for the time the boys own the stage. SSD brings the good time with them and people join right in. You have to see the live show to believe the amount of sound that comes out of this rock trio. The days of Pure Rock will live on through SDD's great hooks, one of a kind guitar work and improvisation that sets them into the world of a premiere musical act. SSD takes the mind, body and soul of the audience on a journey to discover why rock changed the world.
Band Members:
Guitars: Fran Mann
Born in North Miami, Florida, Fran was given his first guitar at age 6 by his gypsy uncle Couqee (Cookie). As the guitar was handed to young Fran, His uncle sprinkled some magical mystical gold dust and whispered in Fran's ear "find the other two and you'll be fine". Fran's number one passion of finding "the other two" is finally completed in the incarnation SSD. His favorite pastimes are String Theory with Spiritual Wisdom, frolicking, probing new galaxies & spontaneous outdoor lovin.
Influences: Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Al Dimeola, Alex Lifeson & Ty Tabor
Bass & Vocal: Tracy Towne
Born in the heart Mississippi "near the old crossroads". Tracy was influenced at an early age by what He believes to be energy in the soil around his birth place. "Music was not thought about it just was", and in an enchanting manner, it haunts Tracy to this day. Tracy is behind the lyrics of SSD which are derived from his spiritual tutelage from the renowned Maharaja Uumpah, who is convinced he is the prophesied mahatma Buddha.
Infuences: Led Zepplin , Rush , The Police, The Partridge Family....HUH??? I didn't type that.....
Drums: Grant Dawson
Grant is a prodigy percussionist from Ohio. He has played with many jazz and rock acts on some major tours. Over the years Grant has developed his own style He calls "Universalized Drumming" which incorporates loose energy from the air and unused electrons in his brain into a centralized location at the ends of his sticks. This is a very organic experience you have to see to understand.
Grant is the backbone of SSD at times unleashing a whirlwind of mechanical precision.
Influences: Mitch Mitchell,Tony Williams,Terry Bozzio
