Description:
Based in Orem, Utah, SIDE DISH has been playing shows since August 2001. Influenced by Reel Big Fish and No Doubt, Side Dish started off as a ska band. (That, and Erik wanted to start a band, and he played the trumpet, so ska was a natural starting point.) When it came time to record SIDE DISH's first full-length album, Truth or Dare, the band had found its own niche in the music world, the lively sound of "rock with horns." A couple of the band's first ska songs made it onto the album, just because the band and its fans like them so much. But it is the festive Maracas, powerful Big Surprise, and, well, "haunting" Haunted that establish the SIDE DISH sound. Hotshot is destined for radio airplay and Get Up is a good indicator of where the band is going. The band has played over 60 shows, despite having taken a break for a year+.
Band Members:
yan Sanders (guitar & vox), Erik Vorkink (trumpet & keyboards), and Kevin Vorkink (drums) are three of the original seven band members. Rounding out the current line-up is James Boyer (trombone) and Johannes Fischli (bass).
