Description:
The August West Band is Denver's very own Heart of Gold band. With the increased number of heads in Denver and the surrounding areas, they formed in August of 2002, knowing what they wanted was a tribute to the Dead. The name, "August West", comes from the heartfelt song "Wharf Rat": "My name is August West...."
August West feeds off of the energy between the band and their audience. One would definitely not say that they copy the music, but instead take the jams to the same space through original paths, recapturing the sense and color of a live Dead show.
