Description:
Chronic Harlot represents two decidedly different creative energies paradoxically intersecting. Their material lands somewhere within the parameters of late 60’s/early 90’s counter-culture pomposity and Euro-trash romanticism. Heavy licks washed in low-end distortion, evoking images of regret and lechery, intertwine effortlessly with tender moments laden with both melancholy and quiet optimism. Passionate croons from the heart of a lovelorn libertine, hovering above the often-sleazy dreamscape, confuse the listener between states of lustful arousal and scathing guilt.
Band Members:
Founding member guitarist Matt Bastian (25) is the infrastructure of Chronic Harlot, an unassuming composer quietly toiling away in the background. Bastian prefers leaving the spotlight to his band mates, the first of which is drummer Brian “Nelly” Nelson (25), the group’s realist. Nelson’s modest approach to almost everything keeps the band true to themselves and open to criticism. Next is seasoned music industry veteran bassist Jesse Raczynski (26). Jesse’s wealth of practical experience is an invaluable resource for the band, a cherished guard against any foolish decisions. Last is flamboyant vocalist/lyricist Jeremy Grunloh (27). Brooding and waifish, with a sensual stage presence, he is the public face of the band, the personification of the sound and words of Chronic Harlot…which in closing is best summed up like this--sexy yet subtle, ugly yet beautiful and disturbing yet comforting.
