Description:
Booomslang is an inte-racial, female fronted, acoustic, alternative rock band. Karen Davis rocks the acoustic guitar in a style reminiscent of Pete Townshend. Bassist Kevin Hummel's thick, melodic bass-lines perfectly complement Karen's aggressive guitar style. Drummer John Hummel lays down solid beats for Karen and Kevin to stand on. Boomslang's 6 song EP, Bloody Tales From the Suburbs features Karen playing serious double-time rhythm guitar on the tunes Butterfly Kiss, Beautiful Girl and Uninvited. On the three other Bloody Tales tunes, Boomslang is tight and melodic.
Band Members:
Karen Davis is Boomslang's singer, songwriter and guitarist. Karen likes to pound the acoustic, and has been called 'the jack-hammer' by her band mates. Karen's songs cover many topics from inter-racial love gone wrong to violence. Her lyrics are dark, introspective and poetic. She uses her powerful voice to fill each word with emotion and conviction. Bassist Kevin Hummel's melodic, occaisonally acrobatic playing was heavily influenced by Cream's Jack Bruce and Yes bassist Chris Squire. Drummer John Hummel's manages to be both musical and powerful at the same time. Together, Karen Davis and the Hummel brothers make a truly powerful acosutic rock trio.

Here's the latest Boomslang news!!
Karen and Kevin continue their torrid, stormy, sweet love affair as only two noisy Aries/Pisces cusps can. Good God the yelling, the geticulating. Are they fighting or just talking about the weather? This has to be one of the noisiest relationships ever. John continues to sit by peacefully until things quiet down. Boomslang is rehearsing for the Uptown Hogs and Heifers gig on January 10, and Karen's looking for solo acoustic gigs in the Boston area to go with the house concert in February. Boomslang saving money by rehearsing in the Hummel family basement. Does adolescence ever end? The band plans to have an all-electric CD out by year's end called Grim Face Coloured Folks in Fancy Clothes. This 3 song demo will pre-date the 7 song EP to come.
