Description:
“The world is in chaos, as it always has been.... Peace can never truely be achieved.... Without evil there is no good and vice versa.... Life is nothing more than time between conception and death..... Just like good and evil one cannot exist without the other..... Time in between???? Life???? The Deadwait......”

Inspirational words of introspection and of views of the world around us are what drives Deadwait, a hardcore/death metal band ripping up the club scene in Connecticut.

In February of 2001, the brutal truths of this cruel and unforgiving world spat forth a bastard son named Deadwait. Anger and rage run rampant through the lyrics and music of this six man band. The anger and rage from living through the betrayed trust of crooked politicians, world events gone sour, love gone bad, friendships lost, and the cruelty of this world in general pours from each lyric and each note with mind-numbing brutality. From day one, this bands mission has been to play the most brutal, heavy guitar riffs, pounding bass lines, and brain-scrambling drums, mixed with intelligent lyrics, not heard since the explosion of Hatebreed. Deadwait has played their own brand of hardcore/death metal to an ever increasing audience, always evolving their sound, and earning new fans with every live riff played, earning a reputation within four states (Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts respectively) for one of the most intense live shows from an unsigned band along the way. Featuring two vocalists, Chaz (hardcore vocals), and Frank (death vocals), makes them a unique and intriguing sound. Add in guitarists Tony and Randy, and the sonic attack takes on a whole new feeling. Throw in the dynamic rhythm section of Adam (bass) and Chris (drums), and what you have is the sound of the next big thing.

Deadwait has recorded and unleashed upon this world two demos, and are currently preparing to let loose upon this unsuspecting planet a full-length CD, aptly titled “Rebirth”.

Deadwait has shared the stage with some of the heaviest hitters in the world of metal and hardcore, gaining their respect and admiration with every turn. Such heavy hitters include Motorhead, Bile, Morbid Angel, Today is the Day, SkinLab, Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, Skinless, and Cradle Of Filth.

“Judged Before Death”, the bands second release, received the praise of critics from all over the world. “Grabs you by the love handles and gives ya a nice, bitter head butt” and “Pretty impressive” are how Craig Gilbert of the New Haven (CT) Advocate stated his love for this album. “Deadwait is just ultra-fucking heavy. That's the only way to describe them” is what Thomas Pizzola of the Hartford (CT) Advocate had to say. “This is fucking boisterous, rowdy metallic hardcore that is just so hard-hearted and uncompromising” and “it pounds the shit out of your speakers with 100% crude ferocity.” are how NoFrontTeeth.co.uk liked this album. “This band has taken death metal and hardcore and added other metallic touches to find their own sound” and “extremely brutal that have really brutal vocals without being guttural” is what the reviewers at MusicExtreme.com had to say. And national monthly publication Sound Check Magazine had this to say. “Lightning fast riffs, a crushing double-bass drum assault, and enough pure condensed anger to break a brick wall by just turning this up a bit too loud”.

Impressive feats for an unsigned band. And this is only the beginning. Early spring 2004, the newest assault on our senses will be released, to the joy of Minions (the name the band have given their street team members, also, the quickest growing street team in Connecticut history) all over. Brace yourselves.

Some Reviews on Us:

Deadwait is just ultra-fucking heavy. That's the only way to describe them. They lay down a brutal death-metal grind that is led by the dueling larynx-shredding vocals of Frank Connors and Chaz Hendrick. It's just straight-up metal delivered with no frills and no bullshit. It has all the right ingredients. You get loud, down-turned guitars courtesy of Andy Reitano and Tony Difronzo and a low rumbling bottom end courtesy of drummer Chris Tallerdy and bassist Adam Curtis. It makes for one extremely powerful and tight sound. And with song titles like Fuck You and Die, you know that they have their hate-filled hearts in the right place. (By Thomas Pizzola, Hartford Advocate )

This is fucking boisterous, rowdy metallic hardcore that is just so hard-hearted and uncompromising. You can tell by the song titles that this takes no shit: 'Brutality', 'Fuck You And Die', 'Born Into Hate' etc... it pounds the shit out of your speakers with 100% crude ferocity. (www.nofrontteeth.co.uk)

Here we have a band that have made an interesting mix of brutality in two ways: first of all these guys have taken death metal riffs and more rhythmic stuff and thrown it into their compositions, then they have added some elements of brutal bands such as Crowbar, Pro-pain or Sepultura and added new sounds to them. Then they have accelerated the mix and give the music a faster twist. Then you have an idea of how Deadwait sounds. Here we have a band that is extremely brutal and that have really brutal vocals without being guttural. In fact this band has taken death metal and hardcore and added other metallic touches to find their own sound. The sound of the recording is really clear and that adds a lot to the brutality of the music. Locers of the most brutal will like this one. Favorite tracks: "Brutality", "To hell" and "Born Into Hate" (www.musicextreme.com)

Deadwait is an apparently unsigned Connecticut band that call themselves a "nu-metal." However it would probably be more accurate to describe them as a fusion of old-school hardcore and brutal deathmetal, since I don't hear many of the elements I traditionally associate with the nu-metal genre on this CD. You won't find much rapping or squeaking guitars a la Limp Bizkit on this fairly well-produced demo, but you will find lightning fast riffs, a crushing double-bass drum assault, and enough pure condensed anger to break a brick wall by just turning this up a bit too loud. The titles say it all... "Brutality," "Born Into Hate," "To Hell"... and my favorite, "Fuck You and Die." Need I say more? Things are looking up for this group as they have opened for the likes of Overkill, Motorhead, and Morbid Angel. Hatred never seems to go out of style. (Al Ravage - Sound Check Magazine)

Judged Before Death, CD, , New Haven, CT 06401, . Dual-vocal barked, double-kick drummed, multi-influenced (hardcore, death metal, Pantera, etc.) metal. Grabs you by the love handles and gives ya a nice, bitter head butt. "Fuck You and Die" is a classic bile spitter. All eight tracks work without sounding like that same old, same old. Pretty impressive. A three-song CD with a demo version of "Violent World" from the band's upcoming CD Rebirth is floatin' around. That's ah-right too. (Deadwait-album review by Craig Gilbert-New Haven Advocate)
