With a voice as smooth as new silk, LS Paragon Music recording artist Leijiah introduces her debut CD entitled, Perfect Love, featuring all original music including the soon-to-be classic love song, “Snow on Sunday.” The Roanoke resident, who launched her music career after years as an executive secretary and homemaker, says her musical influences range from Creed and Whitney Houston to Barbara Streisand and Billie Holliday. “I think learning to breathe and sustain a perfect pitch is an awesome gift,” said Leijiah, whose only formal training as a singer was teaching and recording herself over the past 20 years in order to perfect her craft. “My goal as a singer is to tell you a story that makes you want to stop, listen and then find out that it indeed was a very good story that you can identify with and feel good about at the same time.” It was Leijiah’s obvious vocal talent and musical ability that drew the attention late last year of Bill Thomas, Q99.1 Deejay and longtime friend, and inspired him to invite Leijiah into his Digital Concepts recording studio to record the Perfect Love CD. Thomas said “Here with Me,” the third cut on the 3-song demo CD, is an uncanny blend of music and lyrics that works so well together. “Here with Me is an absolutely wonderful song, with a lot of meaning and interpretation between the lines of the vocal,” Thomas said. “The music compliments the vocal and the vocal compliments the music.” The music and lyrics on the Perfect Love CD were written by Stephen K. Cooper, formerly a Roanoke Times & World News reporter who now lives in the Washington, DC suburbs. Cooper, who has only been playing the piano and keyboards for about five years, said Leijiah has an incredibly warm voice that comforts listeners. “She’s absolutely phenomenal and destined to be a superstar,” he said. The Perfect Love CD is currently available at the Record Exchange Stores at Tower Shopping Center in Roanoke and Lakeside Shopping Center in Salem.
